Why American Sign Language Interpretation?

I began my ASL journey when my high school offered ASL as a foreign language. As I continued taking classes, I quickly fell in love with not just the language but the Deaf community, culture, and history behind it. I decided to major in interpreting at IU Indianapolis as a way to continue learning ASL and also to make a positive contribution to the world in my own small way. Since then, I've been able to take several ASL, interpreting, and Deaf-related classes that have helped me understand the community and profession as a whole. I look forward to remaining a lifelong learner after I graduate!
